The firefighters of the City of Madison continue their training long after they graduate from the Fire Academy. They continue their training through the Mississippi State Fire Academy, college courses, and other approved methods. Some of the additional training our firefighters have had includes Rope Rescue, Trench Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, Smoke Diver, Hazardous Materials, Arson Investigation, Terrorism Response, among others. We currently have three EMTs (Emergency Medical Technicians) trained to the Paramedic level, and two other EMTs who will soon complete their Paramedic training. Our firefighters work 24 hours on 48 hours off.
