Animal Control

The Animal Control Section is part of the Administrative Support Division of the Madison Police Department. Stray or loose animals are subject to being detained by the Animal Control Section. There is a leash law in the City of Madison. All animals outside of the confines of a fenced yard or home must be leashed. If you believe your pet has been picked up, or if you have lost your pet, please call the police dispatcher at 601-856-6111 and ask to speak with an Animal Control Officer. Efforts will be made to reunite you with your pet. The City of Madison Webster Animal Shelter provides boarding and sheltering of lost pets until owners can be identified and located or adoptions can be facilitated.
City of Madison Webster Animal Shelter

The City of Madison Webster Animal Shelter is a state of the art, climate controlled, "no kill" shelter which provides boarding for homeless and abandoned pets. The shelter pro-actively attempts to place pets into adoptable homes. The shelter is located at 525 Post Oak Road and is open Monday through Saturday, 8 AM to 5 PM. Adoption hours are Monday through Friday, 11 AM to 5 PM, and 10 AM - 4 PM on Saturdays, or by appointment. The telephone number is (601) 605-4729. When considering an individual or family pet, citizens are encouraged to consider adoption of one of our community's rescued animals. The animals are eagerly awaiting a loving home. A pre-adoption form is available for those who wish to apply for adoption of a pet. There is a $100 adoption fee for dogs and $75 for cats which helps to provide for the continued support of the center so it can continue to provide rescue services for abandoned and neglected animals.
