The Mississippi Forestry Commission has approved a burn ban for Madison County through Oct. 13. Madison County is one of 30 counties with approved burn bans in place because of the extremely dry conditions.
A burn ban means no outdoor burning of any kind, including campfires, bonfires, fire pits, fire rings, burn barrels, debris burning, field burning or anything with an open flame that produces an ember. Allowed are propane/gas grills, propane/gas heaters and charcoal grills.
