The public may notice a large law enforcement presence at Madison Avenue Upper Elementary Wednesday, Oct. 19, through Thursday, Oct. 27. Please be assured there is no cause for alarm.
The law enforcement community has joined together to help MAUE with a forensics/law enforcement unit, which will tie into Red Ribbon Week and culminate with a school-wide detective themed Mystery Night on Oct. 27. The public may see police activity, blue lights, SWAT vehichles and the Highway Patrol helicopter at the school, but it is all part of a pre-planned coordinated activity for students.
MAUE has the support of so many in making this learning experience possible. Much gratitude goes to Mayor Mary Hawkins Butler and the City of Madison, Alderman Pat Peeler, Madison Police Department, Madison County Sheriff's Department, Mississippi Highway Patrol, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, Homeland Security and the FBI.
