Household Hazardous Waste Day

Household Hazardous Waste Day is set for May 25, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Madison Central High School.

Dispose of old, unuseable or unwaned items for free. 

Enter the drop-off site by way of Park Place Drive and Madison Central Drive only.

Items that are not accepted are: air conditioners, dishwashers, dryers, light bulbs, medical waste, nuclear waste, radioactive waste, refrigerators, thermostats and washers.

Thursday's Swing into Summer Postponed

The Swing into Summer event scheduled for Thursday, May 9 is being postponed due to the threat of bad weather moving in. The Patrick Harkins Band, Food Truck Night and children's activities scheduled for May 9 will instead happen on May 30.

The next Swing into Summer will be Thursday, May 16 as the city celebrates First Responders Appreciation Night with the 601 Live Band and children's activities. The May 23 Swing into Summer will feature the band Dirt Road Cadillac and vendors from the Downtown Madison Farmers Market on hand selling their produce and specialty items.

The Madison Fire Department is accepting applications for firefighters.

Farmers Market opens May 21

The Downtown Madison Farmers Market opens its sixth season on May 21.

The market on Main Street by Madison Square Center for the Arts is open Tuesdays, 3-6 p.m. through the summer growing season. Vendors will sell fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables, local honey, jams/jellies and home-baked items.


Road closing scheduled

Madison Avenue will be closed at the railroad crossing for rail/road repair on Monday, April 29, at 9 a.m. until late Wednesday, May 1.
Madison police say to expect delays in this area.

Plan an alternate route. Detour side streets connecting to Main Street are: Crawford Farms, Crawford, Jones, Magnolia, Montgomery and Highway 51.

National Day of Prayer

Everyone is welcome at the National Day of Prayer service at City Hall under the Prayer Tree on May 2 at noon.

The theme for this year's observance is Love One Another from John 13:34.
