Our review process, which is guided by our adopted Zoning ordinance, is very straight forward. 

Once an application is made a staff meeting is held in which all of the city departments review the submitted documents and make written comments related to their area of concern.  These comments are sent back to the applicant who will then be required to submit written answers to the comments and possibly provide updated drawings.  These drawings and comments are sent out by us to each Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) member on the Friday before their regularly scheduled meeting, which is held on the second Monday of each month.  The P&Z will consider the request, and hold a public hearing, if it is called for, and vote to recommend or deny approval of the project to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen.  The entire process for the initial application submittal to the approval of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen is approximately 5-6 weeks, depending on the month.
