Madison the City conducts business under a Mayor and Board of Aldermen form of government.
Six aldermen are elected from separate wards, while the seventh member is elected at-large from the entire city. The terms for the Mayor and Aldermen are for four years. The next election is set for June 2025. The Mayor and the Board of Aldermen members are elected for concurrent four-year terms.
The Mayor and Board of Aldermen meet on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 6:00 pm in the Courtroom of the Justice Complex at 2001 Main Street.
