Investing in Our Future: Madison Mayor’s Youth Council
The Madison the City Mayor’s Youth Council is a dynamic platform designed to empower and engage the youth of our community in civic leadership and service.
What is the Madison the City Mayor’s Youth Council?
The Madison the City Mayor’s Youth Council is a prestigious program that provides a unique opportunity for motivated young individuals to actively participate in local government and contribute to the betterment of our city. Serving as a bridge between youth and local governance, our council aims to amplify the voices of young people and address issues that matter most to them while also learning how local government is run and operates. Throughout the school year, they meet to plan, organize, market, and execute community projects. The MYC also volunteers for city-wide functions such as Scarecrow Festival, Easter in the Park, Swing into Summer, Merry Market, the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting, and more!
How do I become a member?
About 30 young people are selected to be on the Mayor’s Youth Council each year. Applicants must be rising high school sophomores, juniors, or seniors. Membership is open to residents of Madison the City or attending a school within our city limits or be homeschooled.
*Entering Seniors must have been a member of MYC for at least one prior year to apply.
