Madison the City conducts business under a Mayor and Board of Aldermen form of government.
Six aldermen are elected from separate wards, while the seventh member is elected at-large from the entire city. The terms for the Mayor and Aldermen are for four years. The Mayor and the Board of Aldermen members are elected for concurrent four-year terms.
The Mayor and Board of Aldermen meet on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 6:00 pm in the Board Room on the second floor of Madison City Hall at 120 Montgomery Street.
