Madison County Schools is a top-rated district in the state, and all public schools in the city of Madison are “A” rated by the Mississippi Department of Education for superior student academic achievement.

Three elementary schools are in the city of Madison. Madison Avenue Elementary (grades K-2), Madison Avenue Upper Elementary (grades 3-5), and Madison Station Elementary (grades K-5), which has twice been named a National Blue Ribbon School. Our elementary schools have a distinguished track record of excellence in academics, arts integration, character development, and fitness and wellness. All three schools provide top-level academics as well as immersive art experiences, including music, choir, dance, visual arts, theater arts, and media arts. Students also have opportunities for robotics, computer coding, chess, and strings during the school day. Throughout the school year, students participate in grade-level performances, take field trips, and work with guest artists and authors, and enjoy using cutting-edge technology in every classroom. Students serve their community through a variety community service activities throughout the school year, developing hearts for helping others.

Students in the city of Madison begin sixth grade together at Madison Middle School. Continuing the tradition of excellence in academics, Madison Middle School offers a robust curriculum to appropriately challenge and prepare students academically. Students can participate in a variety of sports, including cheer, dance, soccer, football, basketball, track, tennis, swimming, and more. The tradition of service continues at MMS as students participate in a canned food drive and fundraisers for Make-A-Wish, Children’s of Mississippi, and St. Jude. Students have opportunities to participate in the school band, school-wide musical theater performances, choir, robotics, and more. There is a place for students with all different interests at Madison Middle School!

The ninth-grade year is a special time of transition to high school, and students in Madison enjoy this grade in their own school at Rosa Scott. Ninth graders are involved in a variety of activities and sports, participating in Junior Varsity teams. In 2021-2022 Rosa Scott School are Little six conference champions in football, basketball, and baseball. The Junior Varsity Mystix dance team are MHSAA Junior Varsity Pom State Champions for 2021. Students participate in special events throughout the school year such as wellness week, community service activities, the school Health Fair, and Reality Fair, which helps ninth grade students learn life skills such as budgeting. The Rosa Scott show choir is award winning, and the theater program produces outstanding performances. Students are introduced to the Academy of Multimedia Communications where they learn skills in video production, public speaking, technology, and more.

Madison Central has a strong track record of performance in arts, athletics, and academics, including 130 current students scoring 30 or above on the ACT as well as 21 National Merit Semifinalists in the Class of 2022. Madison Central has won seven state championships in athletics in 2021 and 2022, including a national baseball championship, and the band consistently receives All-Superior ratings. Madison Central pep rallies showcase the best in school spirit from the entire student body! The MCHS choirs, show choir program, and debate team bring home top honors, including state championship honors in speech and debate in 2022. Along with a wide breadth of core academic courses, students can choose from a variety of outstanding elective courses from ceramics and engineering to video production and theater. Madison Central is home to two academy programs, including the award-winning model Academy of Engineering and Academy of Multimedia Communications.
