Dress up as a scarecrow and join us for a stroll through Downtown Madison followed by an Awards Party at the Madison the City Welcome Center.
Scarecrow Stroll Rules
Dress up in a non-scary scarecrow costume and join us for a “no vehicles allowed” stroll through downtown Madison. You can walk on legs or stilts, ride a bicycle/tricycle, unicycle, razor, scooter, wheelchair, golf cart, skateboard, battery-powered kiddie car, or push a stroller or pull a wagon. No cars, trucks, Gators, horses, or 4-wheelers allowed.
Arrival Time:
Please arrive at the corner of Jones Street and Main Street by 8:00 AM. Please park on the west side of the railroad track so that pedestrians are not crossing the track.
The Stroll will begin promptly at 9:00 AM.
Check-In: Upon arrival, please check in to receive your entry number. Proceed directly to your assigned, numbered spot on Jones Street.
Stroll Route: Line up entries on Jones Street with the head of the Stroll pointed towards Main Street. When the Stroll starts, it will turn left onto Main Street and proceed to The Village. At The Village entrance, turn left onto Dauphine Street and go through The Village residential area until it gets to Merchant Street. Turn right on Merchant Street and then turn right onto Main Street, ending at the Welcome Center/Business Network office, 2023 Main Street.
Candy and Handouts: No items may be thrown by parade participants. You may hand out candy, you cannot toss it. Businesses may hand out coupons and/or swag.
Children: Children walking in the parade must be at least 5 years old. Younger children must ride in a stroller, wagon, kiddie car, etc. All children and pets participating in the Stroll must be properly supervised by adults.
Judging: Stroll judges will be positioned in front of Madison Methodist Church.
Parade Flow: To maintain a smooth stroll, all entries must proceed at a slow, steady pace.
Festivity Requirement: Entries solely for advertising purposes are not allowed. All entries must be festive in nature and not scary.
Awards: Awards for Best Individual Costume, Best Group, Most Unusual Form of Transportation, and Best Pet Costume will be awarded during ceremonies at the Welcome Center immediately following the Stroll.
